What is a fire safety audit?

A fire safety audit is conducted by fire safety inspectors that will have identification and be in uniform. Fire safety audits are usually prearranged although not always. A fire safety audit is an inspection of your premises and all relevant documents that indicate how fire safety is managed in your building. Documents that you may be asked to provide include:

  • All emergency plans for the premises
  • Sufficient and suitable fire risk assessment
  • Action plans that relate to risk assessment or significant findings
  • Protective and preventive measures regarding fire
  • Training procedures and programs
  • Fire alarm detection and notification systems
  • Sprinkler systems
  • Emergency lighting
  • Ventilation system
  • Firefighting equipment
  • Fire doors and shutters
  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) including all fire safety maintenance records including what was checked, by whom and when the maintenance occurred.

HRSS can help you to prepare for a fire safety audit to ensure that your building and procedures are compliant with fire safety inspections.
