What are PoE cameras?
Power over Ethernet, or PoE, cameras are much like traditional security cameras and connected with a single ethernet cable. They differ from wireless cameras that operate on Wi-Fi with a PoE, wired connection that can provide many benefits in the right security installation. PoE cameras will not go down when Wi-Fi glitches and can support superior surveillance resolution with a wired video surveillance connection. PoE can also provide faster data transmission than some Wi-Fi signals without the chance of downtime or intermittent connections. PoE cameras installed in an integrated commercial fire and life safety system provide data connection coupled with the electrical connection with one single ethernet cord.
