What is the difference between the two BDAs: Class A Channelized vs. Class B Band Selective?

Both BDA/Fiber DAS systems strengthen certain frequency bandwidths or ranges.

Class A:

  • BDA is classified by the FCC as Class A if the bandwidth is less than 75 kHz.
  • Channelized Signal Boosters are BDAs that amplify numerous <75 kHz channels. Class A can lessen the effects of near-far communications.

Class B:

  • The FCC classifies BDAs with bandwidths greater than 75 KHz as Class B. Before being deployed, Class B Signal Boosters need to be officially registered with the FCC.
  • More popular, class B amplifiers are capable of simultaneously covering every channel in the public safety bands operating at 800 and 700 MHz.
