What is the NFPA 92 Standard for Smoke Control Systems?

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 92, Standard for Smoke Control Systems, includes requirements regarding a smoke control system’s design, installation, and testing procedures.

The smoke control system is what controls the air or smoke movement inside a building. Since there are different ways to control smoke, NFPA 92 includes both smoke containment systems and smoke management systems. NFPA 92 does regulate how a smoke control system is designed but does not govern when a building should require a smoke control system.
