Access Control

An access control system allows business owners to choose who can access their building by restricting access to certain sections of the building or restricting access after business hours. When choosing which access control system is right for your commercial building, it is important to think about the needs of your business. The four types of access control systems are:

Mandatory Access Control (MAC) – this type is most secure by only allowing the system administrator to set the control settings and access programming. This type of system is used by businesses with strong security needs.
Discretionary Access Control (DAC) – this system is very flexible by allowing a list of people to have access at each control point.
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) – this type of access system is popular in commercial properties because employees can be granted access based on their job title, access can be easily changed, and it takes less time to set up.
Rule-Based Access Control – this system is typically used with other types of access control systems. This system allows business owners or managers to restrict access to a building during certain hours of the day or night.
